Legislative Update from Assemblyman Richard Carrillo
This is the first in a series of email newsletters I will send during the legislative session designed to keep you updated about key topics under consideration at the Legislature.
On February 4, 2013, the 77th Session of the Nevada Legislature will convene in Carson City. It is my honor to return to the Assembly as your representative for Assembly District 18.
This session, I have the pleasure of returning to the Assembly as Chair of the Committee on Transportation, and I am excited to go to Carson City to serve you. Additionally I will serve on the Assembly Committee on Judiciary, and the Assembly Committee on Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Mining.
This session, we will focus on education, our state’s economic development, and discussing revenue to move toward Building a Better Nevada. We will work to better opportunities for small business owners and; expand “Nevada Jobs First” so that others may be encouraged to bring their business to our state. We will fight for the future of our schools and focus on efforts that will bridge higher education with local business to encourage partnership and expand investment in education.
Your Input is important to me
I hope you will follow the legislative process by attending meetings and hearings either in person or by video conference from a remote location, and by logging on to our website, www.leg.state.nv.us, to listen to or view committee hearings. I also want to encourage you to check out the Nevada Electronic Legislative Information System, NELIS, which allows you to view online language and exhibits being discussed in committee hearings in real time. This new program improves transparency, reduces the amount of paper used by the legislature, and saves taxpayers millions of dollars.
